Juneau
Juneau is not the easiest city to access. You can’t reach Juneau by road. Then, every year 200 scheduled flights do not make it into the capital city due to bad weather. But when I finally got there, I found much to like in this Artic “little San Francisco.”
There are downtown attractions in Juneau worth your attention. But what is really impressive is the city’s wild frontiers. The landscape is breathtaking in all seasons, but summer is the most favorable time for travel to Juneau.
Travel Advice
Of course, the best time to range throughout the state is from June through August. July and August warm temperatures attract crowds to popular sites like Denali National Park and the Kenai Peninsula. Travel during May and September has its advantages as well: mild weather, and a good chance for off-season discounts on accommodation and transportation. Most Alaskan festivals and events take place during the summer periods of 24-hour daylight.
Alaska State makes attempts to attract more visitors during the winter months by promoting skiing and dog-sledding trips, and the prominence of the Northern Lights at this time of year. I traveled to Alaska in July, and was carried away by the beauty of this enormous land.
